Abstract

In the light of recent discussions on weave-coding methods, a coding method based on the binary system is suggested. Systems of numeration are discussed, and a method of compacting weave-repeat diagrams into octal and sedecimal numbers is developed. Examples are given of various weaves coded by this method. Further developments of the system are suggested, to deal with more complex weaves. The system described is intended particularly for mechanical-recording methods and any future automatic-weaving devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
