Abstract

This article discusses the events that led to the closure of the Saint Francis hospital and medical charity for the poor people run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in New York, N.Y. The evacuation from the hospital will still proceed in spite of the publicity. No formal announcements have been made by the city regarding its closure and who would take over the building and the facilities. Several members of the hospital from the housekeeping staff to the doctors have began to look for jobs.
