Abstract

This article offers a guide for economists on research manuscript publication. Research work is mostly published in books and refereed journals. While book editors are looking for content that will sell, journal editors seek articles that have new and worthwhile information. The most important rule for economists to understand is that an article can be sent to only one journal at a time. Book manuscripts can be sent to many publishers at the same time. Advice is offered on dealing with rejection when an article submitted to a journal is flatly rejected. Rejections are more common in economics journals that other disciplines and many famous economics articles were rejected by several journals before being published.
