Abstract

The article reports on the discussion and analysis of the Distributed Interactive Engineering Toolbox (DIET) architecture and the hierarchical scheduling approach used by DIET agents and servers. The extensions made to the standard DIET scheduling approach is presented. An alternative model founded on active management of the flow of requests throughout the system is in consideration. Supports are added on (1) limitation on the number of concurrent requests on interactive servers, (2) server and agent level queues, and (3) window-based scheduling algorithms.
