Abstract
- The article focuses on a clinical study that was conducted to find the effects of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on inflammatory markers in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The COPD is characterized by chronic inflammation and is considered to be the fifth leading cause of death worldwide. However, no effective agents are available to cure this inflammation. A dietary supplement containing PUFAs has anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, a clinical study was conducted to find out the effects of omega-3 PUFAs in COPD. The study suggested nutritional support with an omega-3 PUFA-rich diet as a safe and practical method for treating COPD.
