Abstract
- This article reflects on the article "A Robust Strategy for Sustainable Energy," by Klaus S. Lackner and Jeffrey D. Sachs. The author agrees with the conclusion of the article which states that there is no shortage of energy on the horizon. It points out that the debate over the exhaustion of liquid fuels is mostly based on false premises. But the author feels a more complete discussion of the making of liquid fuel from biomass was missing from the article. Biomass, which would compete for land with food producers, and biomass such as corn stalks which can be used to create fuel. Lackner's and Sach's article constructs a baseline scenario for greenhouse gas emissions over the next century on the basis of an assumed convergence of income per capita around the world on income per capita in the United States.
