Biomedical research faces bleak budgets.

The article reports on the 2007 fiscal buget allocation by the Bush administration in the research and development area in the U.S. Pandemic flu preparedness and biodefense came out to have an increase in the budget, while other agencies have flat or either lower than the 2006 budget including the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration.
