Abstract

The article focuses on the discovery of an organic materials in fossils as old as 300 million years by the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institute of Washington in Washington D.C. One example of these fossils is a vertebra of Stegosaurus stenops, a dinosaur which lived 150 million years ago. If a bit of this fossil is dissolved in a hydrochloric acid, small amounts of various amino acids called the building blocks of living protein will be discovered.
