Abstract
- The article introduces Metafont, a computer program introduced by scientist Donald E. Knuth as an alternative method of typography. Metafont mathematically defines the letterforms. Through an access to the calculating capabilities of a digital computer, Metafont contributes greater resources to the job. It connects the dots in the assigned sequence, either with straight lines or curves. Pens and erasers are the primary tools of the language.
