Abstract

The article reports that the Education White Paper of the British government could increase the problem of social segregation in schools according to a study conducted by the Institute for Social and Economic Research. The study discovered that segregation is due to the uneven spread of children from different social backgrounds. A factor that will contribute to the increase in social segregation is the greater selectivity in admissions by state schools. Norway and Finland are some of the countries that lack social segregation.
