Abstract
- The article presents news briefs related to developments in science as of July 1966. China conducted its third nuclear test on May at the province of Sinkiang. The U. S. House of Representatives appropriations committee cut the budget for the Mohole Project. A survey by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development found that an estimated 5,000 scientists and engineers migrate to the U.S. every year. The U.S. spacecraft Surveyor 1 landed on the moon a few miles from the landing site of Russia's Luna 9. Workers at General Electric Electronics Laboratory and at Cornell University developed a technique for identifying bacteria through gas chromatography.
