Abstract
- The article examines how materials are transported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm by means of electron microscopy. At a crucial point in the larval life-cycle, blebbing occurs when the salivary gland is preparing to synthesize a special protein later excreted by the gland. The major portion of the metabolic activity takes place in the cytoplasm.
