Abstract

The article focuses on the discovery of two dwarf galaxies called Sculptor and Fornax systems by Harlow Shapley, an astronomer and Harvard College Observatory director in 1920. Sculptor and Fornax systems were discovered by Shapley while working with the photographic plates formed at the Harvard Observatory's Boyden Station in South Africa. These dwarf galaxies were independent stellar systems with a total luminosity of less than a thousandth of the luminosity of the galaxy.
