Abstract

The article discusses the survey conducted to children and adolescents regarding their reaction about AIDS. Spontaneous emotional reactions to the AIDS crisis were assessed in seventh, and tenth graders from one school district in the U.S. Students responded to the question about what upsets me most about AIDS. Loglinear analysis revealed that fifth grade student were most disturb about the lethality of AIDS, on the other hand tenth grade felt helpless. Cognitive and emotional factors were postulated to account for these differences. Furthermore, it has been suggested by the survey an AIDS education strategies that consider grade-specific anxieties.
