Abstract
- The article presents several developments in the study of yarn hairiness. It includes methods for hairiness measurement such as the use of laser rays diffractometry, Digital Hairiness Measuring Instrument developed by F. Fritz and Fibrograph and yarn-spinning process such as the Dref II spinning system. Fibre length and fineness are the two fibre properties that affect yarn hairiness. The hairiness of singles and two-ply wool-polyester fibre and wool-acrylic fibre yarns have been studied using a digital hairiness meter, as well as the singles of cotton and rotor-spun yarns.
