Abstract

The article argues that education faculty must determine a close relationship of research to knowledge and practice. In this study, the role expectations for teacher educators in private colleges and universities in the U.S. are explored. The most consistent characteristic of institutions in schools, colleges and departments of education is the faculty size. Preparing teachers in private institutions requires some shifting in priorities to reconcile self-evaluation. It has been stated that the pressure to teach or conduct research is one of the several conflicts experienced by teacher educators in private institutions.
