Abstract

The article focuses on a study related to the AIDS prevention in young adults in the U.S. Although the predominance of HIV infection on college campuses in the U.S. has been approximated to be about 1 in 500, these figures are anticipated to go further because college students are sexually active and they do not follow proper and adequate steps to protect themselves from contracting HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Many AIDS prevention interventions have endeavored to save students from the threat of AIDS by increasing awareness about the disease, its consequences, and transmission avoidance techniques. But unfortunately, knowledge about AIDS does not transformed into AIDS preventive behaviors. Motivation to guard oneself from AIDS is one of the crucial factors that play a role in determining who will involve in AIDS preventive behaviors. While most students have actualized that condoms provide protection from AIDS and other STDs, even then they do not use them simply because they lack the necessary social skills.
