Abstract
- The article presents information about the Forsyth County Cervical Cancer Prevention Project, a community-wide cancer education program. The purpose behind the implementation of the program was to improve compliance with follow-up of abnormal cervical smears among minority patients in public health and private primary-care clinics in Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was discovered that the percentage of black women who returned for follow-up and treatment of an abnormal cervical smear increased during the time the program was in effect. The research also revealed that the increase in the percentage compliant did not begin prior to the intervention period and was maintained throughout the duration of the intervention.
