Abstract

The article presents tips by sewing professionals Norma Bucko and Peggy Sagers on ways to sew a dart for it to lie completely flat, without a pucker at the tip. There is a need to precisely map out a stitching path and play with stitch length to make sure the point is secure. One should sink the needle one and half inches from the point on the original stitching line and clip the thread ends close to the fabric. Start sewing at the point because the dart-point angle is most important and the garment edge is buried in a seam.
