Abstract

The article presents research which assessed the influence of prior thermal treatments on the water absorption and wrinkle-recovery of wool. According to the author, heating can improve the wrinkle-recovery of wool. In this regard, the treatment was termed as annealing. The treatment is also believed to involve macromolecular rearrangements within the wool fiber through labile hydrogen bonds. This treatment was done to provide a minimum-energy configuration.
