Abstract

The article focuses on the establishment of a cooperative program of laboratory experiences for prospective teachers by Ball State Teachers College and the Boys' Club of Muncie, India. In the program, the college students who are enrolled in Human Growth and Development are given every opportunity to validate concepts presented in the classroom with the observations of children. The Cooperative Program of the Muncie Boys' Club and Ball State Teachers College began in 1952. The club serves as a laboratory for students enrolled in a sophomore educational course entitled Human Growth and Development. Potential teachers are encouraged during the program to reflect on their own interest in young people and possibly other reasons for their entering or not entering teaching.
