Abstract

The article focuses on how the DNA operator-repressor system works in a virus. A segment of DNA adjacent to a gene is called an operator while a repressor is a protein that binds to the operator. It controls the expression of the gene. Gene expression and repression is studied in bacteriophage lambda, a virus that infects Escherichia coli.
