Abstract
- The article introduces the philosophy and strategy of social development adopted by Chinese revolutionary leader Deng Xiaoping. Under the primacy of economic growth, he designed a three-stage development strategy. The first stage was to double the 1980's per capita gross national product by the year 1990 and the basic problem of feeding the population should then be resolved. China aims to become an affluent society comparable to other middle-income nations.
