Abstract

The article focuses on the lands mentioned in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. These lands extend from Italy to Iran and from Greece to Egypt, with most events occurring in the area called the land of Israel, or Palestine, on both sides of the River Jordan. Botanists refer to the five different geographic regions of Palestine: The fertile crescent on the southeast end of the Mediterranean Sea; the coastal plain or Mediterranean Zone; the central hill country that alternates hills and plateaus; and the fifth region, the Jordan Valley runs down the center of Palestine.
