Abstract

The article presents a control and evaluation framework called BSC-IS that integrates a balanced scorecard (BSC) and business process reengineering (BPR) in the context of an information system (IS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) project. It discusses the management of the dimensions of BPR-related change, how to capture performance drivers, and organizational control via BSC-IS. The article also stresses the importance of a clear understanding of cause-and-effect relationships between behavioral and technical variables in the measurement of outputs or actions in a BSC-IS framework. INSET: What Is a Balanced Scorecard?.
