Abstract

The article focuses on the study about the achievement in elementary school science in schools in Minnesota. The study aims to measure some of the science learning that was taking place in elementary pupils and try to establish the kinds of teachers and teaching contributed to learning. A preliminary questionnaire dealing with elementary school science teaching facilities and procedures was sent to all 478 superintendents of public graded elementary schools and a science test was administered to the 1,850 fifth grade pupils of the 87 teachers. Statistical techniques are used in analyzing test and questionnaire results. The study shows that the science program is limited and there are differences between the teachings of teachers.
