Abstract

The article discusses the aims of general education stated by a committee of the Progressive Education Association in the U.S. Its purpose is to meet the needs of individuals in the basic aspects of living and promote the fullest possible realization of personal potentialities. The objective of science for the purposes of general education is to develop certain fundamental concepts. It has the objective to acquire a working familiarity with scientific vocabulary used in literature and learn something of methods of scientific thinking.
