Abstract

The article focuses on the interpretation and measurement of problem solving ability. Problem solving ability can be considered in the context of information theory. A theory of problem solving behavior based on an interpretation of the role of stored information and acquired information in selection of courses or behaviors has implications for the construction of a test to measure problem solving ability. The problem solving process may be explored through the use of a variety of tests which measure problem solving ability.
