Abstract
- The article reports on the utilization of the Internet by Germany-based pharmaceutical company BASF AG and researchers at the University of Florida to cut the cost and process of completing clinical trials. In 1997, the team has finished the first web-based clinical trial that test the effectiveness of BASF's high-blood pressure drug. The cost of the clinical trial was reduced to $35 million, while to be completed in 2002. The adopted process could deliver drugs to the market faster and cheaper.
