Abstract

The article focuses on the relationship between prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm (PIN) and atypical small acinar proliferation (ASAP). The clinical importance of recognizing high-grade PIN is based on its strong association with prostatic carcinoma, PIN has a high predictive value as a marker for adenocarcinoma. The predictive accuracy for cancer is lower for both high-grade PIN and for ASAP in a highly screened patient population compared with previously reported.
