Abstract

The article focuses on the rise in fossil-fuel prices in Great Britain. The government believes that the present high price of non-renewable fossil-fuel energy is a temporary phenomenon. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries has been unable to control the price of oil as demand continues to surge and global productive capacity, despite enormous efforts to boost this, remains relatively stagnant. There is the urgent need to replace the country's rapidly ageing nuclear capacity and address the need to replace its ancient coal-fired power plants with the clean-coal technology.
