Abstract: The article discusses a study on nitrous oxide and nitric oxide emissions from forest soils in Europe. It emphasizes the importance of process-oriented models connected to a geographic information system used in calculating nitrogen-trace gas emissions from soils. It also outlines the materials and methodologies used in the study. Information on soil is being obtained from the Soil Geographical Data Base of Europe.
