Abstract

Presents a study which applied a 2-dimensional higher-order shell theory to the buckling problems of a thick circular cylindrical shell subjected to axial compression. Analysis of buckling problems of a simply supported circular cylindrical shell subjected to axial compression; Principle of virtual displacements; Comparison of the obtained buckling stresses with those of the existing theories.
