Abstract

This article presents information about a conference on the topic "History of Education," held at the City of Liverpool G.F. Mott College of Education, on December 15, 1967. Around one hundred and eighty professors and lecturers from Colleges and University Departments and Institutes of Education in all parts of Great Britain have attended this three-day long conference. A review of the present situation of the place of the subject mall types of education course was given jointly by educators Nanette Whitbread, David Bradshaw and Malcolm Seaborne. They stated that the common clement in compulsory courses in English institutions was the study of education in that country during the last 150 years. Papers and discussion showed the common conviction of the value of the study of the history of education in professional training. In the historical approach lay the key to the understanding of institutions and the practice of schooling.
