Abstract

This article examines the use of the Internet as a medium for awareness and information in tourism marketing, using the example of a single origin representing a major tourism market and the destinations about which its potential tourists may receive information via the Internet. The occurrence of travel-related Internet addresses has grown rapidly since then, with addresses related to a wide variety of types of information around the globe. Potential tourists with Internet access now have a vastly increased range of sources of information on nearly every destination in the world and on all types of tourism establishments ranging from individual house rentals to multinational hotel chains to airlines.
