Abstract

The article reports on the declining influence of Soviet Union in African countries. Mozambique President Samora Machel has signed a mutual security agreement that will enlist South Africa's aid in improving ports, railroads and electric power facilities. According to the article, Ethiopia relies on Soviet arms and Cuban troops in its fights against three separate insurgencies in Eritrea, Ogaden and Tigre provinces.
