Abstract: The article reports on the call of the Association of Data Processing Service Organizations (ADAPSO) for software publishers to adopt a voluntary protection standard to help prevent unauthorized copying of personal computer programs. ADAPSO is dropping its call because they ran against the grain of current industry trends. Software buyers would have received both a diskette and a read-only memory chip.
