Abstract

The article reports that the Japanese firms are ahead in the submicron design of memory chips which have circuit lines thinner than one micron. This was evident at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in February 1987 where Japanese companies presented technical papers that previewed new chips. However, International Business Machines Corp. of the U.S. has also presented its own designs.
