Abstract
- This article discusses the use of classical music in the motion picture L'Age d'or, directed by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali in 1930. The soundtrack of the film received little attention. At first glance, the music might appear to be merely an assortment of pieces from the classical and Romantic symphonic repertoy, selected primarily for the ironic contrast between what one hears and sees. The music was aimed to shock the bourgeois.
