Abstract

The article focuses on the need for business leaders in the U.S. to understand the concept of electronic-security, also known as e-security, and the danger it poses. A number of e-security breaches occurred in 2000 as big companies, such as Microsoft, Yahoo! and Bloomberg, were attacked by hackers, cyber-extortionists and electronic criminals. The damage caused by the said incidents cost around $12 million, but they were not widely publicized because it was committed by an insider. According to the author, most business leaders are not paying close attention to protecting their systems and information technology assets from computer hackers.
