Giant magnetoresistance on low field in non-stoichiometric La2/3Ca1/3Mn1-xO3.

Abstract

Electrical transport and low field magnetoresistance (MR) are reported in the La<subscript>2/3</subscript>Ca<subscript>1/3</subscript>Mn<subscript>1-x</subscript>O<subscript>3</subscript> (x = 0–0.16) samples, which are prepared by the sol–gel method followed by a sintering treatment at 1100°C. Experimental results show, for x = 0.06, an MR platform is observed in a temperature ~200 K under the magnetic field of 0.5 T. With an increase in x, the MR effect gets augmented. For the sample with x = 0.16, its MR peak is as high as 50%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
