Abstract

Craniopharyngiomas in the retrochiasmatic space may extend into the third ventricle. The extended endoscopic endonasal approach (EEEA) provides direct access to the tumor with minimal manipulation of the perforating arteries from the circle of Willis, avoiding brain retraction. EEEA allows a clear view of the hypothalamic wall and tumor interface, preventing hypothalamic injury. In this case, the tumor, located between the optic tract and hypothalamus, was completely resected while preserving the hypothalamus and vascular perforators.By Prakash Nair; M.
