Abstract

A recent study conducted at Federal University Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, focused on the role of TNF-expressing CD1d+ monocytes in the activation of CD4-CD8-T cells in patients with Chagas cardiomyopathy. The research found that CD1d+ monocytes from patients with cardiac disease exhibited higher inflammatory markers compared to those with indeterminate disease. These findings suggest that CD1d may be a target for modulating inflammation in Chagas cardiomyopathy. The study was supported by various research institutions and the National Institutes of Health in the USA. [Extracted from the article]
