Abstract

A recent study conducted at Udayana University in Bali, Indonesia, focused on the risk factors associated with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in malignancy patients receiving platinum-based chemotherapy. The research highlighted that high levels of soluble P-selectin and neutrophil extracellular traps (NET) were identified as risk factors for DVT, while myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels did not show a significant association. The study emphasized the role of immunothrombosis induced by endothelial injury and activation of monocytes and neutrophils in the pathophysiology of DVT in these patients.
