Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical focused on malaria prevalence in southern Angola, specifically examining copy number variation in pfmdr1 and pfpm2 genes in Plasmodium falciparum isolates. The research highlighted the low prevalence of resistance CNVs in the parasite population in Lubango, Angola, indicating potential challenges for anti-malarial efficacy and the need for continued molecular surveillance. This study provides valuable evidence on CNVs in pfpm2 and pfmdr1 genes in P. falciparum isolates from southern Angola, contributing to the understanding of malaria resistance in the region.
