Abstract

A study conducted at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) examined the relationship between physical activity, cognition, and leukocyte telomere length in adults. The research found that telomere length mediates the association between physical activity and cognition differently in men and women, depending on the intensity level of the physical activity. This study, based on data from the UK Biobank, highlights potential sex differences in modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and the impact of physical activity on cellular age and cognitive function.
