Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Airlangga in Surabaya, Indonesia, explored the potential of using the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) as predictive biomarkers in pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI). The research, which included 206 pediatric TBI cases, found no significant predictive relationship between these biomarkers and 28-day mortality. However, there were notable differences in SII, NLR, and PLR levels across mild, moderate, and severe TBI cases, suggesting further research is needed to establish their utility as predictive tools in pediatric TBI.
