Abstract

Researchers at the Institute of Criminology in Ljubljana, Slovenia, conducted a critical discourse analysis of parliamentary discussions on cannabis regulation in Slovenia from 2013 to 2024. The study revealed that proponents of less stringent regulation emphasized the medical benefits of cannabis, while opponents focused on public health risks and moral concerns. Despite efforts to change cannabis regulation, the status quo remains unchanged, with public health experts playing a dominant role in shaping the discourse. The full report, titled "Poison or Panacea: a Decade of Parliamentary Discourse On Cannabis Regulation In Slovenia," was published in Revija Za Kriminalistiko In Kriminologijo.
