Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery focused on the prognostic impact of Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) and Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) on patients with Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) undergoing platinum-based chemotherapy. The study, which included 11 studies with 3,634 SCLC patients, found that high NLR was associated with decreased overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), while PLR did not significantly impact OS except in specific patient populations. The researchers concluded that further validation from prospective studies is needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]
