Abstract

Researchers from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia have developed a new deep learning model called DeSPPNet for cardiac segmentation using MRI imaging data. This model aims to accurately delineate cardiac structures such as the myocardium, right ventricle, and left ventricle to aid in the diagnosis of heart failure and treatment response evaluation. By utilizing a multiscale approach with the Spatial Pyramid Pooling layer, the DeSPPNet model achieves high segmentation performance, as demonstrated by dice, intersection over union (IoU), and accuracy scores.
